The area surrounding the Balthali Retreat is thickly forested with luxuriant growth of various flora. Colorfull rhododendron, magnolia and Sal trees covers the hills that undulates and open out to terrace fields. After dusk a myriad of flickering of lights below the valley of Balthali Village comes alive.
